Typical Ball End Nylon strings were created as a convenience to players who either didn't want to take the time to tie the ends of regular Classical strings, or… didn't know how to tie them. As a general rule, string companies used standard type (not hi-grade) classical strings, and then put the ball on.

At Dean Markley, like everything else they do, they decided to take it a step further, and make a really good Ball End Classical string.
